My friends & family tease me about how emotional I get listening to some of his songs...... that was before I saw the film!
What a roller-coaster of life. After watching the documentary, listening to his voice now carries even more weight, it's almost a visceral thing.
If you like his music, perhaps you enjoy epic/tragic autobiographies or you are interested in how much a sensitive soul can endure; give it a watch.
I hope it touches you as much as it did me.
Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood was written by the Animals in 1965. Many people have covered it including some of my favourite artists, but none come close to Joe's version in 1969. If ever a song captured his life, it was this one.
