The movie's trailer and TV spots only advertised the alien torture scenes, but the actual movie turned out to be disappointing. The majority of the film consisted of characters attempting to persuade others that their friend had been abducted by aliens. The torture scenes were shown only through flashbacks. The film was marketed as a gritty science fiction horror, but it was a tedious drama.

When I first heard about the show, I was excited because I assumed it was going to based on the original graphic novel and the Disney movie from the 1990's. But unfortunately, it's about a little girl who's wants to follow in her great grandfather's (Cliff Secord) footsteps. That could work but here's the problem, the show is watered down for smaller children when the Rocketeer is actually something that's geared towards much older kid. If you want to make a show for little kids, do something original but don't take something that's mature like the Rocketeer and turn it into something for that's just for little kids, it's insulting to the fans. By the way, I showed my six year-old nephew the Rocketeer movie and he enjoyed that more than the show.
