Part 2 of the Jumanji movies is mediocre at best. I took my family, and found myself checking my watch frequently ready for it to be over. It has some fundamental drawbacks, to say the least. Here is what we didn't like about the movie: When the characters entered the game again, this time, they remained themselves more than their avatars. They brought all their real life drama into the game, and it felt more like a counseling session than an adventure movie. The two older characters that got drawn into the game were portrayed as stupid and out of touch. Understandably, they might not have initially grasped the concept, but at the end of the movie, they were still struggling with the gaming concept, continuing that narrative. Once into the game, the characters became their avatars, or at least they should have. When we go to a movie with Dwayne Johnson, we want to see Dwayne Johnson act like Dwayne Johnson, not Dwayne Johnson act like Danny DeVito. Same with Kevin Hart. He is hilarious, watching him impersonate Danny Glover, well, it sucked. In short, we felt like we wasted our time and money on this film. The movie leaves it open for another sequel. Let's hope they get back on track and let the actors showcase what made them famous.
