This is one of the best documentaries to highlight the current extreme narcissism and greed that exist in the world—more specifically in America today. The way Lauren Greenfield tied-in her own generational legacy around very high standards and expectations is also quite exceptional. Some of her own generational trauma is showcased, which she is actively attempting to halt within her present family. Lauren’s parents, sons and husband are a much needed and added bonus to the realness of this film.
Using current subject-interviews and juxtaposing them to pictures and their interviews from years past is one of the most fascinating aspects of this piece. It allows the viewers to become invested in the well-being of each subject with an element of empathy. Even subjects living more risqué and socially-questionable lifestyles are humanized; it’s perfectly balanced.
Generation Wealth (2018) is a must-see; everyone will learn something after viewing. I’ll be watching again to see what lessons and nuggets I may have missed the first time! I’m fine-tuning several aspects of my own life as a result of experiencing this historical documentary; I will also encourage my therapeutic patients and life-coaching clients to watch, as well.
BRAVO!
