Though this movie may not truly reflect the Irish at any time in history, it is first and ultimately a romantic comedy taking place in a charming setting. What's not to love. Maureen O'hara holds her own and is the winner by the film's end. Being a feminist I know there are those out there saying this is an anti-feminist film but let's not rewrite history of how women have had to fight for themselves while living in a male controlled world. O'hara's character shows us how it is done.
I love this movie and in loving it I don't believe all Irish were or are like this nor do I believe women ought to be treated as second class citizens.
Love conquers all here, the views are beautiful and there are quotable lines galore!
