As someone who lives in a small town, always online games can be difficult to play due to the best internet around being unreliable at best, even in instanced sections sometimes temporary disconnects can result in several minute long fights being lost and needing to be done from the beginning again due to something completely out of my control. This is immensely frustrating as someone who has followed the series since the 2nd game. nevermind that you can make hardcore characters who would be lost on death, and as a result the entire game mode is unavailable to me due to my location, and more specifically, the online requirement of the game.
