It had its moments of humor and fun violence.. but as a story, it was lacking the overall depth that a story like this deserves. The movie felt rushed, as to be sure to pack in as much character explanation as possible. This movie should have been a true stand alone movie for Robbie's Harley Quinn. Her overall performance is dragged down by her costars and the need to provide them depth. Ewan McGregor's portrayal of Black Mask was shallow and unimaginative. This movie would have been far better if it had focused on Harley vs Chris Messina's Victor Zsasz. There was potential there and it felt like his tie to Black Mask was holding the character back. If this movie had been a cat and mouse game of survival between those two, while giving Harley a chance to come to terms with her need to leave the Joker and making it her choice to leave, it would have been far more compelling and could have included all the traditional Harley Quinn quirkiness and humor that Robbie brings to the role.
