Though the movie is called Maidan, but the story has merely any relevance with the title. It is more about the pioneer of Indian foitball Rahim sir. The movie is unnecessarily long due to poor narration, unimportant emphasis on trivial incidents had to cut short the exciting parts and wider aspects. Repeated screenplay of rain for any difficult situation is so boring. The only exciting part is the final match. THE WORST IS TO TOLERATE THE MELODRAMA OF RUDRANEEL GHOSH.

Lots of scope of good work had been missed by Sanjay Leela Bhanshali, as he was only focusing on proving Rani Padmavati's beauty. More effort has been given on showing romance than the warrior story of rajputs. This time I even missed the magic of beautiful sets, which is the main score area of bhanshali movies. Ranvir singh was over acting and was not justifying alauddin khilji. In fact I liked shahid more in this movie.
