I bought a VR headset in anticipation of this game and was left massively disappointed. It isn't really a VR game. Yes you sit in the cockpit, which is kind of fun for a short while, but there is no interactivity with the cockpit, you're just playing with a joystick/controller/keyboard and mouse looking around you.
The game also seriously lacks any drama, both in its single player and its multiplayer. Which considering this is Star Wars, is insane.
When I had heard of this game, I imagined doing doing heart stopping trench run with my friends against the deathstar... Instead I got missions to scan cargo vessels and multiplayer games that require little to no actual team play- Just fly around in circles hoping you shoot someone before they shoot you. No formations, no synergy, just a mess.
Sound design is also pretty poor for a Star Wars game. Musical cues just aren't there when you want them to be. Don't think I've even heard the main Star Wars theme once?
Big old disappointment. I can't wait for EA to stop having the Star Wars Licence. For now I'll just go back to Rogue Leader on the Gamecube... A Star Wars flying game that still makes your heart race.
