As someone who absolutely loves movies and picking them apart and admires the cinematography and set, I could tell off the bat that this movie was probably very good! However for me personally (I have not read the book, I went into this blind) it was so slowly paced that I had no idea who the characters were or what was going on. It didn’t hold my attention at all and I was totally lost. About forty minutes in I decided to restart the movie because I felt I wasn’t paying enough attention and after rewatching it from the beginning when I hit the forty minute mark the second time I was just as bored and confused as the first time. I’m disappointed because I was excited to see this film and I thought it sounded very interesting, but I finally gave up about halfway through the movie and turned it off. I’d like to try to rewatch it eventually, but in the meantime I thought it might be helpful to someone to know that this is not the kind of film you should watch when you’re bored because it’s too complex and too slowly paced to grasp if you’re not paying full attention. Either way even though this movie did hold my attention, I am sure it is still a great film if you love mystery and more realistic representations of spies.
