If you liked the animated series, then give this live action show a go, it's really good and has so much heart.
Initially the acting feels a little stiff, and you realize it's a canadian production almost right away because of it. Initially, this is a bad thing almost because c'mon.... sometimes Canadian content has that cheesiness to it. You know exactly what I mean if you're from Canada, but that evaporates by the third episode and either they found their stride or you're invested, but either way you can't help but feel: Canadian or not, the vfx are incredibly good. The set design is incredibly good. The costume design is incredibly good. The whole production just slaps to be honest and you get drawn in and I'm so hyped for more seasons.
There's some arcs from the animated series that are sped up for sure, but they do a great job with just 8 episodes. A lot is covered and there are some serious emotional developments and payoffs.
If this is what they can get done in 8 episodes and no guarantee of additional seasons, forcing some editorial economy then I would love to see what they can do with 30 or 40 episodes ordered and a bunch of runway.
