An abject film. Immediately after Elizabeth Holmes alludes to the fact that she named a machine "the edison." The documentray goes on a tangent degrading Edison's honesty. This would be completely fine, if these accusations were accurate.
First, point they made was that Edison continuously printed that he invented the incandescent light bulb when in fact the bulb "material kept melting." The definition of incandescent bulb was not established by lasting any length of time, so this could not be a lie. Further, even in the preliminary years his bulbs soon lasted longer than any competitor, but they weren't economical in comparison to say, candles.
Second, they mentioned that he stalled for four years on no results. This is again false. Yes, Edison was a dreadful businessman and kept asking people for support, but during this time he was making remarkable progress on the bulb. Many other inventions were being produced in his lab at the time as well. He was well supported by royalties of his own inventions, and by personal loans.
A documentary which discredits an inventor -absolutely unparalleled in modern times - without having read any of his various biographies (by esteemed historians). Is doing precisely what Elizabeth Holmes did, and what they claimed Edison did, remarking on some very small detail - brought way out of context to the point of it becoming useless, for personal benefit.
