Special effects would have good, had they been the least bit realistic. To make the fighting scenes more spectacular, was it necessary to have Great White Sharks swimming in the Roman Coliseum? And that’s only one of the misplaced creatures to make a cameo appearance. It takes a lot to set up Denzel Washington for a mediocre performance. I was told the historical references were more accurate, hard to believe with all the artistic “liberties” they took with this film.

This is a 3-hour movie that kept me on the edge of my seat throughout. A towering achievement! It is destined to go down as one of the all-time greats.

But it is much more, as it follows the life of Michael Jordan, as he grew to become a global icon. And more, as we learn about the masterful coaching of Phil Jackson and the colorful group of characters he somehow molded into a championship team, all while he battled the front office that promised to dismantle one of the greatest teams in sports history. It is really Jordan’s autobiography, and you learn why he became and remains one of the single greatest media personalities of all time.
