I saw Black Adam in theater, last night. I love the comics version (the anti-hero version.) And it was actually alright. They did a good job of showing his jaded view of life, but still having a spark of defense of innocent life.
Most of it was predictable, and certain lines seem forced (I assume, intentionally. As the Rock can act without seeming to force his dialogue.).
There were a few laughs. Good CGI, and the bad guy dies a most spectacular death (Which is taken straight from one of the most gruesome kills Adam had in the comics.).
There were a few twists that were actually unexpected. And the end credits scene was fantastic (nearly worth seeing the film, just for that.).
No abuse, or misuse of the name of the Lord, so I actually got to finish this film (DC is usually good about that.).
Doctor Fate (Brosnan) was absolutely a huge highlight. I liked hawkman, atom smasher, the wind chick, and the supporting cast all did (arguably) a better job than the Rock (He did a great job portraying Black Adam's character and power levels... basically an unstoppable juggernaut. Hard to make a compelling conflict when the hero faces literally no danger from the villains.). They introduced a weakness for him, a magic rock (sound familiar?)called Eternium. Although that played no real role in this film (likely a set up for future installments.).
It was a solid B+ film in the superhero genre, and I expect it will surpass a billion in theaters, with little trouble.
