Ohana Family Love

Just installed the free version of the base game. Trying to make a sim, but I'm about to uninstall. The freedom of skin tone and hair colors is gone. I have to pick from the 18 hair colors they give me. I don't see any way to make them darker or lighter. I love giving my sims crazy skin colors, like yellow and purple, but there is no option. They have green and blue and a garish red. The hair animation is clunky, like they all have dreads, or octopi on their heads. I can't add highlights or change the base or tips. Why didn't they keep the best parts of sims 3? Just this part is so frustrating, why would I put my ugly, octopus-headed sim into a world I would have to buy? No matter how pretty the world is, my Sim is not going to make me happy.
