Papi Fifty

I came to this series ready to love it. The characters are really interesting and the acting is great, especially Karine Vanasse. Especially in Season Two, where she brings a raw physicality to her character, working over the heavy bag in a boxing gym. But this series is too like a criticism made by a friend of Ewan McEwan's books -- it is just without joy. The people in it are all miserable and they make me miserable, just watching it. It's an interesting set of scripts and performances. But there is absolutely no daylight in this series.
