I gave this movie a 4 out of 5 because, there are many good things about this movie and some bad. I was indecisive on picking between 3 and 4 stars because of the bad. The good things include: Jason is very aggresive and intimidating, the beginning of the movie was gruesome and an awesome hook to grab the audience attention, most of the deaths were brutal, the edge of your seat type of dark feel the whole time watching it. But the bad things include: The story was lame and kind of didn't make sense to me (I've seen the original and the second), the acting wasn't that great. The underground tunnels ruined the effect of the horror because in the original, his mother gave off the fact that jason and her are capable of just showing up out of nowhere, it was a good explaination and creative though. Overall its 50/50 movie. Either you love it or you hate it. I for one love it because not many slaher movies are made in this time period unlike the 70s, 80s, and 90s. It was done in a very creative way and it may not live up to the hype. But it really pulled off an idea that would've been scarier in the past, into a good movie that the modern age can enjoy. Every scary movie now has something related to demons or supernatural entities. So props to this better than modern day average movie. This movie is still uncomparable to the greats.
