I love this movie. I'm the movie's biggest fan. It's a really underrated movie that should have a bit more respect. I love everything about the film; the voice cast, the story, the animation and the music score. It has a really good message about standing up for yourself against those who have annoyed or pushed you around.
I really connect with Lucas so much because I see a bit of myself in him and is one of those character arcs I connect to and relate with so much. Lucas' character arc is a bit like Jane's arc in the 2002 Disney sequel, Return to Never Land. Both protagonists go through something and then they go through a good change of heart and become better people.
I think both Return to Never Land and The Ant Bully make a really great paring. Both films have beautiful music scores, have good stories and mostly, the arc of the protagonists. I even wrote a sequel to The Ant Bully and I was inspired by the two films and the arcs of Lucas and Jane.
