The characters are not developed. I found myself wondering who certain people were a third of the way through the book
The art of writing whimsy is put to good use but overall the book has no underlying plot that drives it forward - no tension

Sue there are the deaths but I found it all rather disjointed and you can notice two thirds into the book that the author is getting rather fed up with the business of writing
