My vote for worst movie in 2023. The plot is a little like Brideshead Revisited crossed with The Talented Mr Ripley but without the charm. Saltburn is cringeworthy. The setting is great, the costumes particularly for the women, are lovely. But for me, that's where the positive comments end. There is no character for which you can empathise and though Richard E Grant and Rosamund Pike have some memorable lines it really doesn't make up for the totally self indulgent feel. . This film left me a little nauseated, I didn't even like the font choice in the credits.

Beautifully written and thoroughly researched, this tell of the fictional back story to Shakespeare's marriage to Agnes and their subsequent diverging pathways. The death of Hamnet is both the culmination of the story and a pivotal point in the relationship.
The characters are wonderfully fleshed out and complex.
One of my favourite books read in 2021.
