Wow. Just…….WOW. Before Undertale, the only RPG I REALLY played was Pokémon. I had never really played a game like this before other wise. So, I was worried about it being too hard or boring. However, from the moment I said goodbye to lovable Toriel, my journey truly began. What was that journey? The journey of how Undertale became one of my favorite video games of all time. The characters. They are all, with a few exceptions, HYPER likable. Whether motherly Toriel, lazy (for a disturbing reason) Sans, Goofy Papryus, Tough Undyne, Nerdy Alphys, Tragic Asgore, and so on are your favorite, the rest will always satisfy you. The worldbuilding. The lore of this game is FREAKING superberb. I adore little details like Snowdin being founded from a group of monsters leaving the old ruins/capital to the hyper disturbing reason why Sans is lazy. And I don’t mean just in terms of lore, I mean beautiful game design, I swear to god: The 2d part where you see the water castle in waterfall has got to be one of the greatest moments in gaming. The story is also a masterpiece. Especially since it forces tpyou to play genocide to understand it. The music. By golly, the soundtrack is absolutely INCREDIBLE. Enemy Approaching is Grade A, Hopes and Dreams is astounding, and Megalovania, while overplayed, is still greatI am looking forward to deltarune expanding on ideas and theories such as Sans being a darkner, the angel resetting everything in the end and so on.
