I truly loved this heartwarming story and went along on the journey with "Boy and Girl" who were later named "Lofty" and "Patches". They survived the hurricane of 38' and were going cross country from east coast to west coast where they would settle down in the San Diego zoo. The true events were highlighted by an 18 yr old driver, Woodrow Wilson Nickle, and the "Old Man" Mr Jones, and the red haired reporter. The news followed this event all the way to meet the Zoo Keeper , Belle Benchley who was not fictional. A wonderful story and one can't help but fall in love with the giraffes.
