The Kite Runner is a deeply spiritual book that helps you find yourself eventually. It is set in the backdrop of a war-torn Afghanistan. The author presents both sides of Afghanistan, the one where children fly kites all day long and run to catch one when it gets cut as well as the one where migration to survive remains the only option. It helps you develop empathy through the understanding of the struggle of a refugee who has to leave behind everything to survive. The descriptive beginning might not suit generations who have suited themselves to 280-character statements but if you survive the first chapter of the book you'll open yourself to a vibrant new world of Amir and his traumatic childhood, that'll further lead to his tumultuous journey thereafter.
