It’s a SJW movie!
The movie’s plot is based on stopping the birth of an idea by sending an assassin back through time to kill anyone who’s input created the idea. But if you play close attention, throughout the movie, the mention of the “what if” you could stop events such as the American Civil War and various other social political world events comes up. Even more concerning is the strong desire of stopping any other future events by the use of this tech to assassinate more people who have unpopular beliefs comes up. Of course, the idea in question is based in white nationalism and it’s pretty obvious where this story is going inside the first 30 minutes when white on black brutality protests start after the first time jump. As terrible and as tragic as events in our world history were, those events and future events are what make us who we are today. We better ourselves by learning from all the good and bad that came before us and the events down the road in front of us. This movie seems like a not so subtle bash on free thought and excuses erasing history and evil that we are all capable of as we know it in the interests of building a “better world”. Kinda like watching people eradicate symbols of our history to prevent an idea from ever forming in the first place. But there’s one large problem with this concept. Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
... I in no way support white nationalism. This Netflix movie is just another way to soften viewers up to social justice.
