So boring. Way too many characters that serve little to no significance to the plot, like the sidekick… why does he even exist? The initial murder is never even explained. It’s supposed to be a murder thriller but it becomes more of a political buddy cop movie… the dialogue is rough, the jokes aren’t funny, the visual metaphors are thick and overly obvious, and god damn, Justin Timberlake getting mad is just… hilarious. Also Alicia Silverstone… I’m not really sure what her character is supposed to actually be. She makes a lot of weird faces in the movie that kinda remind me of her role in Clueless. It’s a little bizarre. I didnt feel invested in anyone in this movie, or even care about the main murder after a while. We only knew that girl for about 30 seconds, hard to be attached. Save yourself 2.5 hours and just google the plot, it probably still won’t make sense.

This movie is trying really hard. It's like a Nolan within a Nolan. He's now gone past rearranging the structure of the film as a whole in time and has penetrated down to rearranging the current scene in time. The problem for me isn't the concept per se, it's that 90% of the dialogue is just plot exposition. If you can't make it work without telling the audience directly what's happening, then I'd argue it's not really working at all. I didn't care about any of the characters or figure out why they cared about each other. I guess we're supposed to care about the woman's son even though he literally is not even in the movie. I think we see him from behind once at the end. By the end I honestly just felt exhausted trying to keep up with this thing where so much was happening but none of it really mattered to me. Honestly if the protagonist had died I wouldn't have minded. Or the lady. Or her stupid kid. Bottom line is- on a technical level it's brilliant, on a conceptual level it's ambitious, on a fun level it's just... not
