One of my earliest memories is watching "Search for Spock" in a drive-in during 1984. I have always liked Star Trek while not being a "Trekkie." Was always a video game, manga, anime, fantasy, & Star Wars nerd. These days, there is too much negativity and politics amongst the fan base in the USA. Sure, some in Trek but it's still safe. Spock and Carl Sagan were my role models as a kid growing up in the 1980s. This show explores Spock, his humanity, and makes him the center of comedy. For "Trek Purists," this is exactly what DS9 did with Worf. This show is optimism, camp, cheese, philosophy, politics, and reverence for the history of the franchise. Captain Pike by Anson Mount is already rivaling Sisko as the best in the franchise. WATCH THIS SHOW! It's great to see Star Trek embrace it's cheesy and serious sides with such a wonderful cast!

Words cannot express my love for this show! TL:DR Slow start, amazing characters, you don't realize how much it grows on you. This is my personal favorite anime of all time, and this will be a simple review. If you haven't watched/read a lot of Shounen, this show is not quite for you. Should you just be starting your Shounen journey, give it at least a couple of years before you watch. This is primarily an episodic comedy based on Shounen tropes and it's best in class. Frankly, it's a love letter to everything that came before it, while changing the game. The characters grow on you with the episodic content that shows slice of life. Eventually, you get the running jokes and care even for side characters. It does take a lot of time, but pays off exponentially. The lead character is lazy and aloof, but has a deep background that slowly gets introduced. And by slowly, it takes over 65 episodes before the first serious arc. Even then, you don't know Gintoki's background...that's at least another 100 episodes away. If you like strong characters and enjoy to laugh (and get the humor), there is no reason not to reccomend. This is my ALL TIME favorite anime, but it's like a good Scotch whiskey in being an acquired taste. 5 Million / 5

Fun and cheeky dramady.

This is NOT for young kids, the themes and images are very mature in nature. After episode 2, I was unsure if it was something that was enjoyable. Frankly, it was mostly confusing trying to figure out the "who" and "when" of the story. Let it build and you will be rewarded, but caution if you are completely unfamiliar with the original comic. It's in the same universe in 2019 and takes place primarily in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The movie did not follow that narrative and you may be confused with that background. That ends up being an amazing and challenging context for the plot and character developments. Positives: Most of the narrative and characters. Bringing up a real forgotten tragedy in U.S. history (at least for me). Plot twists galore. Regina King continues to show how much of an underappreciated talent she has always been. Detective Looking Glass. Negatives: Confusing beginning that almost made me want to quit. It is mostly serious and lacks comedic levity often. Some parts of the end are haphazard. Solid 4.25 out of 5.

Love, love, LOVE this show! While I haven't watched everything that came out, it's in my top 5 of 2019 shows. It starts strong and has an interesting relationship that the show revolves around. Half Japanese samurai and half American cowboy elements in Star Wars; as it should be. This is a great extension of the Space Opera/Space Western genre. It is episodic from episodes 4 to 6 and some have criticized that. I enjoy episodic shows and found it refreshing. This is "classic," dirty Star Wars, not green screen. There are amazing practical effects and stunt work; some CGI that enhances and doesn't distract. Two criticisms: 1. The epidodes did fine, but the run time was too short. Normally 35-40 minutes. 2. The ending felt a bit rushed. Part of the first problem, but magnified. 4.8 out of 5. Watch. This. Show.

This show is NOT about superheroes, and it is NOT for children. Would you trust your neighbor, friend, or relative with super powers? This question will guide you to watching The Boys. If human beings had powers but still had the vices that we all have, how comfortable does that make you feel? THIS is The Boys. My favorite show of 2019 (didn't watch them all, we are blessed with too much content). It begins with The Se7en, an obvious nod to the Justice League. If you thought brooding Batman had some issues, wait until you meet this crew. Why is it called "The Boys?" Well, random internet observer that's the crew assembly during the first half. This show will disturb you, haunt you, make you laugh, make you angry, make you hate and love humanity for what we really are. Quit reading this and just give the show a chance. Guarantee you will know what you're in for about 8 minutes into episode 1. Resounding 5 out of 5.

I knew this show was well respected, but didn't agree after a few episodes. Wow, was my initial impression so WRONG. It started to get good, and then episodes 12 & 13 happened which completely changed the narrative. Without spoilers be ready for a combination of Groundhog Day and Final Destination with some time travel fun. The show is clear in its presentation of time travel and does a considerable job addressing time paradoxes. With that said, mostly good characters...one character can become annoying early on, but keep watching. That annoyance WILL change.

Missed seeing the first "Spider-Verse" movie in theaters. Like many others, it quickly became one of my favorite comic book movies. Needless to say, I had a lot of hope this movie would be good. Not only was it good, but it eclipsed the first in almost every way possible. To be fair, the soundtrack from the first is better (not by much). There are laughs, there are challenges, there is heart, there is wholesomeness, and there is Spider-Man/Woman. This is almost equally Miles and Gwen's story...don't worry, Pete shows up too! Miles' parents still have a big role too. This is just...WATCH THIS MOVIE!!!!
