I am glad I waited for the movie to be $5.99 on Amazon Prime. The lighting in the movie was dark. The sound would go up loud with the music and down low when they were speaking. The characters were not deep or well developed, so they did not reach you in a touching way. The guy who played Elvis mumbled, thankfully there were subtitles. Elvis character in the movie was a lot taller than the real life Elvis. So he towers over Priscilla. Priscilla’s character looks a lot younger and innocent than the real Priscilla. I have heard people compare this Elvis character to Austin Butler’s performance and he does not even come close to the performance Austin Butler gave. The movie was about Priscilla I suppose Priscilla’s character is as deep and developed as the real life Priscilla. Everyone was talking about it being a Sophia Coppola film and how great it was going to be. This was like a movie made for Lifetime. This story has been told repeatedly for years. There was nothing new in this movie. I gave the movie 2 stars because I liked some of the music in the movie. There was no Elvis music but they played music of that time period. I did expect more from this movie. I was disappointed. I find it hard to believe people are giving the slow, depressing, aesthetically dark and bland movie rave reviews. Something is off about that. My opinion about this movie has nothing to do with the way Elvis is portrayed. This is not a movie which was well done. Movies that are good are those in which you can relate and make a connection to the characters. You get none of that here. I see people saying this is movie is aesthetically beautiful. No it is not I don’t see anything beautiful about dark lighting. Most of the film is in doors, in the bedroom with dark lighting. If I had known how bad the film was I would not have paid the $5.99 to watch it.
