I usually don't care about Barbie, but I just had to see why a movie about a plastic doll was causing such a complete and total meltdown among American conservatives. This is an innocent light-hearted movie that the whole family can enjoy. It may not be nominated for an academy award, but it's fun and full of nostalgia. I don't really understand what the crybaby fit was all about, especially because the movie takes you back to simpler times. If my daughter was still 5 years old, I'd have no problem taking her to this flick.

The movie perfectly conveys the feel of a 60's made-for-TV movie: the plodding plot, forced dialogue, and stiff acting. Well executed in every respect. If they fuzzied up the screen and removed all 21st century elements, you'd think it was made 5 decades ago.
