Depressing, grimey, poorly scripted, directed, & casted.
What a downer. Story line goes off the rails early on. Instead of developing the characters & story, you're rocketed into a scenario where an old woman has become a zombie with fungus out her mouth, having torn out the throat of a neighbor or family member (?) in her home, and running after a girl who I assumed was a leading cast member, who gets killed a few minutes later by a National Guardsman, in just the first 1/3 of episode 1.
Then, boom!, you're thrown 20yrs later into the ugly remnants of humanity & broken society, dilapidated buildings, virtually no infrastructure.
Pedro Pascal, who plays the main male character looks & sounds so much like Nathan Fillion, they could be twins.
What really did it for me was to see Anna Torv, who was so good in Fringe, turn into a foul-mouth beat up hard core whatever, calling someone a "mother fxcker".....lots of Fbombs thrown by even 14yr old girls. Unnecessary & trite use of profanity.
Just a boring waste of time with no redeeming value.
Really sorry Torv took this job. She's a very good actress, but this is
beneath her.
Also amazed at all the good reviews. This had great potential, i.e. a fungus that takes over humans, but they screwed it up top to bottom.
