I've read the series multiple times, so I was initially excited when I heard it was finally going to be made into a big-budget show. All my hopes were dashed to the ground when I watched it, though. The books are incredibly detailed—there's no excuse for Rafe getting so much wrong. And wow, he gets stuff wrong. The entire plot and the characters have been twisted into something that is not the wheel of time, but something loosely influenced by the wheel of time. And most of the changes aren't even in the spirit of the wheel of time. The characters presented in the show have very, very little in common with the characters in the books beyond their names. They're one-dimensional and give you no reason at all to care about them. The script is horrible. The acting is mediocre. The only thing that's decent is the set design, but even that is done wrong—again, every single place is described in great detail in the books. Rafe just kinda threw all that out the window and decided to make everything look completely different. And Lan. Lan! He has been completely ruined in this show. He went from the massive, towering blue-eyed, cold-hearted warder that was stoic and never showed any emotion on his face to a slightly above average soft-spoken guy in a cheap samurai costume that screams and cries when another completely forgettable warder dies. And Nynaeve; why is Rafe seemingly trying to make her the hero of this show? She's taking out trollocs in hand-to-hand combat, doing these weird force explosions all over the place, and instead of being stubborn and prickly she's just, well, annoying and nasty and not enjoyable to watch. Thom was ruined as well. Mat went from a dashing rogue to a guy that steals from all his fellow villagers and looks like he has a meth problem. I could go on and on. This show is horrible, and I wish google would let me rate it 0 stars.
