So far watched 2 episodes. Very disappointed. Actors seem too young for the parts they played. My father was 23 when he was a B-17 pilot in the Mighty Eighth, but he and his crewmates looked much older. Take a look at the YouTube video named "Target 1944." It is of the actual day of my father's mission on 10/9/1943 with the actual participants. Look at how the servicemen and commanders looked and carried themselves.
Also disappointed in Austin Butler's performance. He mumbled his lines (Elvis goes to war). The the animation of the German fighter pilots doesn't seem real. Watch actual videos of air combat and you will agree.
Not impressed.
Update: Watched 8 of 9 episodes, hoping it would get better. It didn't. If the Americans all acted so brash and cocky, why didn't they talk about their experience after they returned home? My father only mentioned one event during his confinement in Stalag Luft III: The day he was liberated by Patton's army, he was making a chocolate pie in the camp kitchen.
The writers did a disservice to the real Americans who flew those missions.
