That ITV had the gual to list this as a comedy should be enough for Ofcom to issue a warning. Awful, unfunny, with no redeeming qualities. Would be surprised if this lasted the full six week run without it being pulled from the schedule.

Once you get past the opening few minutes with glimpses of Kamino, Geonosis and the Sarlacc pit escape there is precious little on offer to recommend the first episode. Hopefully it picks up as the series progresses and doesn't fall into the Mando routine of being given a quest to find a person/object, travel to quest location, have a fight, complete quest and escape which happened pretty much every episode.

The usual bilge we've come to expect from Stephen Moffatt: a promising start that was ruined and came to nothing.

It's not perfect but it's a vast improvement on its mediocre predecessor and arguably the best third chapter of the three trilogies making up the Skywalker saga. There are lots of call-backs to earlier episodes (not just from the current trilogy) in addition to the well publicised returns of Palapatine and Lando Calrissian. Expect to see familiar faces, species and locations. Daisy Ridley puts in comfortably her best performance although Adam Driver is once again the stand-out actor here. It was great to see Anthony Daniels be far more involved as C-3PO than in the previous two episodes and with better material to work with than anything offered in the prequels. The saga is rounded off here well and this final chapter does at least go some way to redeeming previous failings.
