Being a massive fan of the previous Dragon Age games, I was cautiously hopeful about Veilguard—but after seeing early release footage and trailers, my expectations were low. Unfortunately, even those low expectations weren’t met. The writing is atrocious, feeling like it was written for children instead of mature players. The characters speak in such unrealistic, stilted ways that it’s impossible to believe these are adults in a complex fantasy world. The story itself is shallow and lacks the depth and intrigue that the series is known for.
On top of that, the game is full of bugs. Frequent crashes, quest glitches, and bizarre character behavior make it frustrating to play. And visually, the character art is hideous and inconsistent, as if the designers completely missed the Dragon Age aesthetic. The models look unpolished and completely out of place.
In the end, Dragon Age: Veilguard was so disappointing that I returned the game for a full refund. If you're a fan of the series, do yourself a favor and steer clear of this one—it’s not worth your time or money.
