what a journey of a story. Beautifully acted and well worth the 121 award nominations it received.
However, As someone who has spent my entire life as a care giver, I'm going to have to agree with Jane Hawkings synopsis of this movie because it was as much her story as it was Stevens. That the producers and directors truly didnt delve into how incredibly difficult her life was while taking care of 3 children, as well as her disabled husband, was really disappointing to me. The movie producers, (according to an interview I read that was done with Jane Hawking,) said to her that they decided not put that part of her life in the movie due to time constraints. I disagree. They could have gone without showing the tracheotomy scene and a couple of other scenes that did nothing but fill gaps in the movie and instead, gone with a three minute window into the daily struggle of what being a wife, caregiver, secretary, etc , that was Jane's life, as Jane Hawking had suggested.
This script was nearly too carefully written for the movie. and while it's based on Jane's book, they should have been more loyal to the truth of Steven and Janes life than the hollywood glam.
