what a series. god, my eyes are still blurry but i can't help drop my feelings in this ocean of reviews if it makes one more person watch this beautiful series.
as said by most people here, when you actually start it, it looks kind of boring. at one point i thought, she kinda dense, man: but oh, oh. one episode in, i was confused, was violet evergarden even human? generally in women centric movies/series their are many annoying factorsโ personallyโ which even while setting in a fictional world have no logic despite trying to forcefully reinforce it. this is.. different. i'm not implying that this story was about 'empowerment' of any sort, but it empowers you nonetheless. the feeling of sonder (every person you pass by, has a life as complex as your's), i didn't realise could be that deep and fascinating.
it's not a spoiler, but there is this one scene where someone says, 'you need to live, it's my last order'.
and she says, 'i.. i don't take orders anymore.'
i paused the video and sat with my head in hands. this sentence of five or six words.. god, i had to take inโ no, i had to let it sink in.
my favourite dialogue. hell, the screenwriting of this series, the delivery of those emotions are beyond words. here's to one more review to tell you it's totally worth it and you'll not get up once you start it. there is not much of 'leaving it on cliffhanger'..it just connects with you in such a way that you yourself just want to watch it. not because there is any rush to know what happens next, but whatever happens, how heart wrenching it is going to be.
