Love it and have watched 3 times. It’s a joyous treat. Saw the English version - OK but - no. Love the racketing around Paris and adore ALL the characters - didn’t appreciate Arlette at first but she became a favourite. Jean Gabin, her dog, is a superstar. Fascinating scenes of film-making and great generosity from the actual ‘stars’ who are as likely to be sent up or let down as the agents. The only one I really dislike in this is Sigourney Weaver. Over-indulged and not very good IMO. Finished for the third time, I’m missing it already.

A beautiful production, visually stunning, great music. Slow moving, giving the numerous super actors time to develop character. Love John Turturro and the boy who plays Adso particularly, but many great characters. Having read the book years ago I think the depiction of the labyrinthine library absolutely amazing, as are all the sets. A triumph, I would say. Will read the book again.
