This book is a must read for all who possess some type of concern for individuals linked to incarceration. I have been involved in Correctional ministry for over 10 years and much of what this book details I have witnessed in some fashion. The authors and contributors have done a fantastic job in providing a detailed understanding of the problem at hand. Those who talk about black lives matter should plunge themselves deep within the content of this book. I read this book as a seminary student, preacher, and as a black man in America. In each of these ways I bear some responsibility to the problem and its solution. Ministry with Prisoners and Families doesn't simply pull the covers back so readers can sneak a peak inside. It calls upon congregations, church leaders but most importantly black churches as a whole to strategically combine forces and fight this spiritual war that is an enemy in every city in America.
