Roger Dawson

Julie Howard has captured a slice of working class life, in the industrial city of Sheffield,Yorkshire during the turbulent1960's. The story is centred on three characters, Ma the feisty grandmother, Bert who works at the local steel works and Jennifer his musically talented daughter. Howard expertly weaves the relationships between these characters. Even if some of the local dialect is at times a challenge, it feels authentic and powerful.
