Frankly, I'm shocked seeing other reviews and how many people seem to like this movie. It's one of the most incoherent films I've ever seen and I just recently saw 'Misconduct', so that should tell you something.
My biggest issue, besides none of it making sense, is that I don't care. I don't care about the plot, I don't care about the implausibility of all of the tricks, I don't care about the terrible special effects and I certainly don't care about any of the main characters.
I feel like the biggest issue is that 3 out of the 4 main (hero) characters are just downright unlikeable. I don't know if different casting would have helped because the characters were never developed enough to illicit any amount of relatability to care about.
Woody Harrelson's character is the exception. The French woman is also an exception. Mark Ruffalo's character is unfortunately the same as the main "heroes", just unlikeable. I do feel he was miscast in this one, although I don't think he's a bad actor.
Overall 0 stars. I really don't understand how anyone outside of a young kid that's kind of into magic could ever like this film.
