Lovely! So thoughtfully done without being intellectualised. The script is beautifully written, captures all the tensions. generational, sexual, racial, political, and makes you think and rethink at each point, see perspectives, hopefully even grasp viewpoints that are not your own and even if you don't agree with them at least you understand them better and acknowledge them more. A slice from an important historical moment that really transports you there and makes you understand better where we were, where we are heading, how action can be effective and why. The cast is superb, direction delightful. Loved it!

Loved this film. Fresh without being in your face or all deliberate about it. Great script, great performances, touching story, very real characters that you relate to or at least recognize and repeatedly hits the nail square on the head about who we are and how we behave

Forget the critics misgivings - they spend too much time reading and theorizing rather than experiencing and living. This is easily one of my all-time favorites. And I'll forever be in love with Glenne Headley (while Caine, Martin, Rodgers, Harris, Ivy, Fay, Conroy... are pure delight)

Absolute rubbish! The makers clearly had no clue what they wanted this film to be and so it ends up being nothing at all. Which is a real shame because the central theme is hugely interesting, a great cast was used and there were interesting visual and aural elements. But the end result makes you want to scratch a wall with your nails till they come off, as self-punishment for having wasted two hours of your life watching it. I wish I had seen the original first because now, having watched this "remake", I'm going to really struggle even considering watching Dario Argento's.

Underrated! Breathtaking plot, good soundtrack, wonderful cast (Bancroft is, as usual, to die for), great watch,

beautiful, epic, the dramatic irony of Euripides really comes live e.g. in the first exchange between Agamemnon and Iphigeneia. Finely crafted, urgent performances by all the main cast - this dates from the last days of old Greek cinema - a cinema that was still grand

Beautifully written and executed, this is a detailed chiaroscuro of Antisemitism within the Nazi line of command. And Branagh is a delight to watch (as an actor - the character portrayed... cringe cringe)
