I honestly don't know what to rate this. It was really good in ways but really bad in ways. If you really, I mean REALLY like musicals with maybe less than 10 minutes of normal talking in the whole film, then this is definitely the film for you. The film had a well made feel to it, some of the music was memorable, but mostly it felt way too overdone and it just seemed to drone on and on... I had to really force myself to sit and watch this the whole way though, I kept telling myself the good bits gonna happen soon, its gonna happen soon. I echo the thoughts of Theo Holtom in his review. However, I do think that its a good film in the way that it shows you in a positive happy way, how the foreigners in new York are being left behind, especially with the immigration situation. I learned a bit more about their situation over there, (and I appreciate that in films) and quite frankly, the unfairness of immigration in the US is so real... there's like no rules to it. So ridiculous. But as regards getting left behind by the government and people not being taken care of properly by the state, then its much like the North of England, UK. I think, if you like musicals, then this is for you!?? I really liked the rap of the young lad in the pool, and Corey Hawkins has an amazing voice! Olga Merediz', (the abuela) solo, was the best theatre performance, moving and powerful and memorable.
