As a white middle aged person, I was immediately bothered by episode 1. I wanted to turn it off. Which told me that this was precisely why I needed to watch all of it. So I did. I cringed. Screamed at the TV. Watched in horror and frustration. This show hit every single emotion for me in the span of one series. It was masterfully done and it gives new meaning to what it truly means to be "human". And by that I don't mean that we find our humanity, I mean that we come to terms with the monstrous, vile, horrific actions humankind takes against each other when a mob mentality takes over. To all you white folks who don't think that this "paints the real story".... listen to a black person some time. And watch this series.
