Before the Dawn has succeeded in playing with my emotions from the beginning till the end. Lila, the teacher and Jason, the student, who is almost 18, fall in love. A relationship that is illegal and should’ve not happened, but their love was real, their tortured souls found refuge in one another, so I believed them and accepted their ‘taboo’ romance.
I enjoyed Before the Dawn on many levels. The chemistry between Alana de Freitas and Jared Scott was believable, sensual and sad. The cinematography and the music enhanced the mood, yet they didn’t intrude.
A thought: How would we react if the roles of the teacher and the minor student were reversed?
