As a Roman Catholic, what I especially appreciated was Midnight Mass' nuanced perspective on Faith, which can be both a blessing and a curse. The montage of the Island coming together as a community to the background of Neal Diamond's "Holly Holy" is religion at its best. Some of what comes later is religion at its worst.
The cast is all excellent, but best of all is Hamish Linkletter as Father Paul who leaves the impression that this man was, finally, sort of a saint.
