I definitely did not enjoy this film. I admit that the cinematography and action sequences were excellent and I must give credit where credit is due (except for the horses who are apparently robots). But it's in the writing, the costume design and setting that the film really falls down. The storyline is cliche, I didn't feel anything for any character (except for Marian) and there was only one story beat I didn't see coming. The movie can't even decide what time period it's even set in, the Third Crusade is happening but all the soldiers use bows like guns and fight it as if it were a modern war, all the clothing and costumes look modern instead of medieval and there is advanced and complex industrial machinery. Finally the political message behind the story is blatantly obvious but thinks that it's hidden and while I have no issues with politics in media it is handled poorly here.
