I've not had children, partly due to seeing the enormous struggles my women friends and clients faced to survive. Beaten constantly by the lack of housing, health care, child care, decent wages for work, affordable education, etc. in addition to family trauma (violence, emotional abuse, addiction, mental illness) and no to little support from the fathers of their children. Beaten again by the court system in efforts to get paternal support. I've seen mothers go from middle class to poverty in a flash. Add racism into the mix for Black and brown mothers, and it just piles on and on. I don't think this series sugar coats anything. I haven't gotten to the end ; perhaps the critical comments here reflect an ending out of sync with the story thus far. The Florida Project tells these stories, as well, with more focus on the children. I highly recommend watching.
