This book is a fascinating read. It is not a dry history book; it takes the reader into the thoughts and personal experiences of Canadian fighter pilots throughout the war, in all theatres of action.
I found myself living the war as if I had been there. First-hand accounts tell the tales of real human beings who were doing what they thought was right, not perfect, sometimes lucky, sometimes unlucky, but always brave. The confusion, excitement, and adrenaline that make up aerial warfare are very well portrayed.
This book is extremely well-researched, and narrated with loving detail by a bona-fide fighter pilot who is passionate about the Second World War. Now, when I look at pictures of aircrew in the war, I have a far better understanding of what they lived through.
I highly recommend this book for any fans of fighter aviation and/or history.
