I was so excited when this movie was announced, but it did not live up to my expectations. It slogged through and there was no real drive behind it. The challenges are, of course, the enjoyable parts. But aside from maybe two (not spoiling anything), they didn’t live up to being worthy of the big screen. The premise behind the challenges was lame. Really? Paula Abdul? Basically, I thought the only things worthy of airing were the challenges which comprise only a moderate percentage of the screen time. The “punishment” (sneer quotes) was okay, I suppose, but again failed to meet the standard of being on the big screen. There are some enjoyable cameos and Easter egg, though. Look for them. All in all, I did enjoy myself, but the storyline which drove the movie was absurdly overproduced and meaningless for me. I would rather have watched their show turned to eleven.
