I didn’t enjoy this book at all, it’s not worth the hype. The plot borrows heavily on ideas from other fantasy books like the Hunger Games, Red Queen, Throne of Glass and has little to no originality. Wasn’t invested in the characters at all, and will definitely not read other books in this series. Also what’s with the repetitive mention of sticky buns? The writing at its basic level is not bad, but the plot needed major work. Why have purging games with elites when the king was trying to eliminate ordinaries? Contradicting ideas and was based off of the hunger games, but at least the logic of the hunger games actually made sense.
