read the book in middle school re-read as an adult and found it still to be entertaining and despite the dialogue being toned down, the book still finds adult themes to explore through the eyes of a teenager in a very unique situation. currently I am reading the sequel Lord of Opium which unfortunately suffers even more from poor dialogue, I don't think a grown adult would ever call another adult a "booby" as a serious insult. let alone two adult women.
